Sept 27 - Waterloo Park Clean-Up

On Saturday September 27th, 11 of us joined together in the afternoon for the Embassy's first ever Service Saturday event. Despite the rain (which some actually enjoyed), we spent almost 2 hours in the Western half of Waterloo Park, picking up garbage and recycling. We split into two groups, and each covered separate ends of the park. By the time we met up in the middle, we had collected just over 4 garbage bags, plus an entire bag of recycling! Everyone had a good time, from enjoying nature to laughing at some of the odder items found. One of the groups even discovered the WatCard of one of the volunteers, which she had lost 2 years ago!

All in all it was a great day. We enjoyed a bit of nature and the chance to get to know one another a little better, had a few laughs, and were able to make Waterloo Park a little bit cleaner. It was a great start for the term, and we're definitely looking forward to the other events coming up this term.

A special thanks to everyone who came out and helped with the cleanup, it was great to have you!
